Learn About Us
New Ballagh is a community centre in the idyllic area of Rossinver in North County Leitrim. Situated in a restored former Church of Ireland Chapel, we have a place of serenity and beauty where we offer a vast range of services to the local community and beyond.
Please browse our website for further information on who we are and what we do. You will be surprised by how wide ranging and interesting things are at the New Ballagh Community Centre.
Our centre is open to everyone. To those of retirement age seeking to socialise within a comfortable, friendly, welcoming space, to those seeking further education with the view of returning to work and to those who wish to learn a new hobby such as art, crafting or learning to play music on the keyboard, to name but a few of the exciting, interesting community courses available.
Last but by no means least, we just have to mention our staff who are second to none when it comes to the running of the New Ballagh Centre. They are friendly welcoming, hardworking people who make our centre such a joy to visit.
We hope to see you soon, with every good wish from the Board of Directors of the New Ballagh Community Centre.
What We Do?
Located in Rossinver, Co Leitrim, the New Ballagh Centre is a restored former chapel turned into a welcoming community space for all ages.
RCDC runs initiatives to combat loneliness, such as the “Rossinver Calling” friendly-call service and a befriending scheme for older or vulnerable individuals.
They maintain and promote the scenic Fowley’s Falls walk (a 3 km trail) and picnic area, combining wellbeing, nature access and local heritage.
The centre hosts an Active Age group (e.g., the Thursday Club) offering classes, crafts, wellness activities and social connections
Through partnerships, RCDC offers accredited adult education and community classes (art, keyboard, car maintenance, sewing, genealogy etc.) to help people learn new skills and re-enter the workforce.
The history of the centre, including its restoration by local people from a disused church, underlines RCDC’s connection to place, heritage, and community ownership.
